Hamodia: A Golden Age Turned Black

This article takes a close look at the life and legacy of German-Jewish scientist Georg Bredig, whose collection of papers and photographs was recently acquired by the Institute.

Hamodia, a daily newspaper for the Jewish community, featured the recent opening and dedication of the Bredig Archive at the Science History Institute. Written with the assistance of Patrick Shea, the Institute’s chief curator for archives and manuscripts, the article takes a close look at the unique collection of books, notes, letters, and photographs belonging to German-Jewish scientist Georg Bredig, whose family was desperately trying to escape the horrors of the Nazi regime during World War II.
