George Borg is a historian and philosopher of science specializing in the impact of technology on science. As a postdoctoral fellow at the Science History Institute he will be studying the role of technology in the development of 20th-century geochemistry, one of the core earth sciences. His forthcoming book will examine the role of instrumental rationality in science, with a focus on chemistry and earth science.

Borg holds a PhD in history and philosophy of science from the University of Pittsburgh, an MA in philosophy from Tufts University, and a PhD in chemistry from Harvard University. Prior to his work in history and philosophy of science he worked as a medicinal chemist in the Boston-area pharmaceutical industry.
