
Gesa E. Kirsch
Gesa E. Kirsch is a professor of rhetoric and writing at Soka University of America in Aliso Viejo, California. She studies the rhetorical strategies used by women scientists and women physicians to advance research, reach broad audiences, and advocate for scientific and medical education. Her publications include “Unsettling the Archives,” a special issue of the open-access journal, Across the Disciplines; a critical edition of More Than Gold in California, Dr. Mary Bennett Ritter’s memoir of her medical education and role as UC Berkeley’s first Dean of Women Students; Feminist Rhetorical Practices (with Jacqueline Jones Royster), winner of the Winifred Horner Outstanding Book Award; and Beyond the Archives (with Liz Rohan), a book of archival adventure and discovery.
