Leo Slater was a fellow on three separate occasions. In 1995–96 his research was titled “Quinine, Its Use and Synthesis.” In 1996–97 his focus was “Locating the Accomplishments of Chemical Science and Industry within American History.” Finally, in 2001–2002 he returned to research “Quinine and the Chemical Control of Malaria, Drawing Historical Connections between Plants, Animals, and People.”
