Mesías Orozco Ic
Doan Fellow
Mesías Orozco Ic is an SNII Level 1 researcher at the Cinvestav Unidad Mérida. He earned his PhD in theoretical physics from Cinvestav Mérida (Mexico), where his academic excellence was recognized with the Weizmann Prize from the Mexican Academy of Sciences and the Arturo Rosenblueth Prize for the best doctoral thesis in exact sciences in Mexico. Dr. Orozco Ic’s research stands at the intersection of quantum chemistry, molecular electronics, and artificial intelligence. He specializes in the study of aromaticity, magnetic response, and quantum transport, with a current focus on developing machine learning framework to simulate large-scale molecular systems.
Orozco Ic’s international trajectory includes research stays at the University of Helsinki (Finland) and the Donostia International Physics Center (Spain). In 2024, he was selected as one of the few young scientists globally to attend the 73rd Lindau Nobel Laureate Meeting, an experience that deepened his interest in the ethical and historical responsibilities of scientific leadership. As a Beckman Center Fellow, his project focuses on the historical and philosophical evolution of molecular concepts, examining how the “language of chemistry” is being reshaped by the digital revolution and predictive modeling.
