Have you heard the news? Red, White, & Blue To-Do is BACK for 2026! Everything is bigger, better, and red, white, and blue-ier…

The Science History Institute is one of 23 museums, historic sites, and local businesses in Philadelphia’s Historic District coming together for the third annual Red, White, & Blue To-Do on Thursday, July 2.

Join us in our museum for special programming on the history and science behind fireworks:

  • Kid-friendly activities and crafts, including creating a representation of the earliest fireworks that used bamboo and black powder (explosives not included!)
  • Learn about the history and science behind these universally loved spectacles with our new Flash! Bang! Boom! A History of Fireworks exhibition
  • Share your favorite fireworks memories on our memory wall
  • Experience unique handling collection items, including real inert fireworks shells and different types of mortars

Visit the Red, White, & Blue To-Do official website to learn about the daylong, star-spangled festivities in the nation’s most historic square mile.

Admission is free and reservations are not required.

Please contact us in advance for groups larger than 12. See our Group & School Tours page for more information.
