We’ve imagined it in movies and written about it in science fiction. It’s behind the origin stories of some of our favorite superheroes. But what is genetic engineering—and how did it all begin?

Join us at 6pm for a lively night of Quizzo

Are you a Jurassic Park superfan? Think you know your genetically modified villains and heroes? Put your pop culture knowledge to the test in a fun trivia game inspired by your favorite films—and the real science behind them. Plus, we’ll have fun prizes for the winners!

In the museum, check out our special collections, learn about the DNA molecules that make up all life, and uncover the major scientific discoveries and medical breakthroughs that brought us into the age of genetic engineering.

…and preview the next season of Distillations podcast!

This First Friday, we’re also celebrating the launch of the new season of our Distillations podcast, premiering Tuesday, August 5!

The new season dives deep into the fascinating history of genetic engineering and the birth of the biotech industry—from groundbreaking innovations and ethical dilemmas, to dreams and controversies.

Catch our special preview episodes now, and join us for this evening of science, storytelling, and trivia fun. We can’t wait to see you there!
